This past weekend (July 13 - July 16) The Town of Shaunavon was busy celebrating their 2023 Annual Boomtown Days celebration. A 4 day event that includes everything from Street Bingo, to a Classic Car show, to The Lawnmower races. It also included a 30 Float Parade, Pancake Breakfast, A Street fair/market, Multiple Cabarets, Inflatable kids park and a Sunday in the Park where people were able to experiance all types of cultural dances as well as an Interdenominational service. Multiple food vendors were set up throughout the weekend giving everyone lots of options on what delicious food would keep them going so they could experiance everything there was to offer.

This Year, The Shaunavon Elks had the pleasure to particapate more in the events that unfolded over the weekend. Starting with the Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning. The Shaunavon Elks welcomed the Community into their hall where we served over 450 breakfasts all by donation. The hall was full as people packed in to get their pancake breakfast before heading out to start their busy day exploring Shaunavon and what we had to offer. It was a welcome sight to see everyone gathering with their friends and families, sharing a meal with many different members of the community as well as visitors to the town.

After the Pancake Breakfast, People quickly moved over to Centre Street where the Parade was going to be starting shortly. Charlie the Elk made his way along the parade route sharing hugs and high fives with everyone he could.

The Shaunavon Elks had decided that we wanted to do something for the kids this year, which leads us to our next event. The Bouncy Castle Inflatable Park that was held on both Saturday and Sunday in the Park. We brought in 3 bouncy castles from Grassland Event Rentals for kids to enjoy between 12 - 4 both days. Kids big and small had a blast jumping between the different inflatables. Some prefering to navigate the Obstacle Course while others preferred to jump on the big Bouncy Castle with lots of little ones jumping on their very own mini Bouncy Castle with slides.

It was a long, but amazing weekend. The Shaunavon Elks are proud to have gotten to take part in such an important event in our community as well as getting the word out about our Lodge. We owe many thanks to all of our volunteers who gave up a part of their weekend to make these events possible and look forward to seeing what comes next!
